Janet Bird, Artist

Born and brought up on a farm in Northern Ireland, painter Janet Bird is inspired by the beauty of the British countryside and the animals that inhabit it.

Now based in Deddington, she works mainly in acrylics and soft pastel, with the odd foray into oils and watercolour.

Despite a lifelong love of art, Janet only began painting three years ago, after a career in journalism, media relations and PR.

Her particular focus is on British wildlife and domestic animals and she cites seeing people’s faces light up when they unwrap an original painting of their much loved pet as one of the highlights of her job.

Janet exhibits throughout the year at Church Lane Gallery and her work can also be seen online at and on Facebook and Instagram as jaybirdart_1. She also has a shop on Etsy - Janet Bird Art.
