Cherry Red loves a good road trip, and believes half the fun is getting there. She will be exhibiting a six-piece series of paintings, inspired by a trip to the Malui Mountains in South Africa. The drive to get there is as long as it is beautiful. The thick textured oil paint was applied with a palette knife on canvas board to give that loose, blurry impression of the landscape as it speeds past your car window.
Having spent most of her life in a coastal city in Africa, Cherry has a deep appreciation for the beauty, cruelty, and cycles of nature. She has spent years working towards her realistic style of painting, and her subject matter often shows her love of wild creatures and wild places.
Now based in Banbury, she mainly produces paintings in acrylics and oil, with the occasional lino cut or sculpture. Whether inspired by a beautiful bird or a line of poetry, she attempts to capture a piece of our eternal conversation with the world around us.
Our exhibition is available to view at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Covid-19 procedures will be in place to keep everyone safe.
